“Why I can’t find MS OS Sticker on my new machine?”
A properly licensed Windows 8/8.1 system has a Genuine Microsoft Label (GML). Windows 8 systems do not have a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) label.
This includes Windows 8/8.1 Pro systems that have been downgraded to Windows 7.
The GML can be found on the system, under the battery, or on the power adapter of the system.
“Where is my Windows 8 Product Key, and How Can I Tell That My Windows 8 Installation Is Genuine?”
Please send the links to your customers if they are asking for Product Key for Windows 8/8.1 Systems. Again, there are no more COA sticker for OEM Windows 8/8.1
“Where is my product key???”
Answer: Windows 8/8.1 keys are encrypted stored in the Bios installed at the factory.
“Can I retrieve my Windows 8/8.1 product key from the bios???”
Answer: No. For Windows 8/8.1, the Product Key is "injected" onto the Bios at the factory,
and the installation and activation processes refer to the BIOS of the computer to verify authenticity and activate Windows.
No Windows Product Key is otherwise provided or needed by the customer (Re-installation must need Windows OEM media Kit from Dell – please make sure to quote in Media kit).
